About Daika New York:

Daika New York is led by craftsman DAIKA, who produces and distributes locally handcrafted, made-to-order bags, sandals, accessories, and home goods products in the heart of New York City. With a careful focus on quality workmanship and sensitivity to customer needs, every item is thoughtfully crafted with a personal touch.

Born in Japan, DAIKA came to the United States in pursuit of his dream to become an independent leather craftsman and create his own brand. While working at a well-established leathercraft company, DAIKA caught the eye of a buyer for Ralph Lauren Vintage, who quickly contracted him to make special sandals for RRL. DAIKA and Ralph Lauren's relationship continues to this day, as he produces vintage accessories, display items, and undertakes Executive Customer orders for them.

Eventually, DAIKA founded Daika New York as an artist collective, which was later corporatized under his own skilled management. At first, Daika New York attended designer markets in NYC. In February of 2013, after two years of intense preparation, DAIKA opened the first storefront in Manhattan, in the Noho district (Lafayette St. between Bleecker St. and Bond St.). All of Daika New York’s products are proudly handcrafted locally in NYC, bringing a unique blend of Japanese craftsmanship and New York City's dynamic energy to every piece.

The next challenge for Daika New York is to collaborate with highly creative artists who can cross the boundaries of their own work and attain new influences.

Materials:
Daika New York maintains a special focus on exotic leathers, including python, calfskin, and alligator. Daika sources its leather from Global Leather, a long-established Manhattan supplier that procures high-quality leathers from the United States and around the world. Every material is carefully selected to ensure that each piece meets the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.

Bags& Accessories:
Daika New York takes pride in its made-to-order bags. The process begins with a selection of signature designs, each embodying lightness, simplicity, and refined functionality for the discerning customer. Customers then choose from a wide variety of premium exterior and lining leathers, creating more than 15,000 possible combinations.

From there, each bag is meticulously handcrafted by a skilled artisan, who works closely with the customer throughout the process to ensure every detail reflects their vision. The result is a truly unique, one-of-a-kind piece, crafted with exceptional care and precision in New York City.

Home Goods:
In addition to bags and accessories, Daika New York also offers a curated selection of home goods products, all locally handcrafted in NYC. These items are crafted with the same attention to detail and quality as their leather goods.
